German Art Deco Porcelain Mantel Clock
This German Art Deco Mantel Clock is an attractive vintage mechanical timepiece believed to date from approximately the 1930s, featuring a beautifully shaped glazed porcelain case, bold period dial and traditional German mechanical movement.
The clock has a distinctive Art Deco appearance, with a long stepped base, rounded central clock housing and decorative moulded rooster figures positioned on either side of the dial. The rich dark reddish-brown porcelain finish has an impressive glossy appearance and contrasts beautifully with the gold-tone bezel and large silver-coloured dial.
The dial features bold black Arabic numerals, a traditional minute track and elegant gold-coloured hands. “Made in Germany” is visible at the bottom of the dial, supporting its German origin.
Its combination of decorative porcelain craftsmanship and traditional mechanical clockmaking makes this an attractive example for collectors of German mantel clocks, Art Deco clocks and vintage mechanical timepieces.
Classic Art Deco Design
The design is characteristic of European mantel clocks produced during the Art Deco period.
Unlike heavily decorated Victorian clocks, this clock has a more streamlined and architectural appearance. The stepped horizontal base, curved clock housing and strong geometric dial give the clock a distinctive 1930s Art Deco character.
The pair of moulded rooster figures on either side adds an unusual decorative feature and makes this clock particularly interesting compared with more conventional wooden German mantel clocks.
The porcelain case measures approximately 37 cm wide, giving the clock an impressive presence on a mantelpiece, sideboard, cabinet or display shelf.
Fully Refurbished & Mechanically Serviced
This clock has undergone a comprehensive refurbishment to preserve its appearance and provide reliable mechanical operation.
The German mechanical movement has been fully cleaned and serviced, with the appropriate components lubricated using quality Swiss Moebius clock oil.
Importantly, the mainspring has also been replaced, eliminating one of the most common wear-related problems found in older mechanical clocks.
The porcelain case has been carefully cleaned and polished, restoring the deep glossy appearance of its original finish.
The case is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or structural damage.
